    What is a mobile proxy?

    A mobile proxy exits through an address a mobile network operator assigned to a device on its radio network. The pool is carrier egress over 5G / 4G / 3G / LTE. The target sees a handset on a carrier — not a server in a rack, and not a computer on a home line.

    Everything that makes mobile different follows from one fact about how carriers hand out addresses, and almost no provider explains it. The next section does, because it is the entire argument for paying more per gigabyte.

    Carrier-grade NAT, and why mobile IPs are shared

    Ask a mobile proxy vendor for a dedicated IP and you will get an evasive answer. Here is the direct one.

    IPv4 ran out. Carriers did not stop selling SIM cards, so they stopped giving each SIM a public address. Carrier-grade NAT sits between the radio network and the internet, multiplexing thousands of subscribers through a single public IPv4 address by port. RFC 6598 reserves a range for the private side of it, 100.64.0.0/10, because the existing private ranges were not large enough for a national network.

    Your handset holds an address from that shared space. The internet never sees it. The internet sees the carrier's public address, and so does every other subscriber currently multiplexed behind the same one.

    Two consequences follow, and together they are the whole argument for mobile egress.

    Nobody gets a dedicated mobile IP. Not from us, not from anyone. The address is shared by construction, before any proxy provider is involved. A vendor advertising an exclusive mobile address is either reselling a hosting range or describing something that is not carrier egress.

    Shared addresses are expensive to block. When a target blacklists a carrier NAT address it is not blocking one automated client. It is blocking every subscriber behind that address at that moment — real customers, on real phones, with real support numbers. Anti-abuse teams know this, so carrier ranges get rate-limited, challenged and tolerated where a hosting range is simply dropped.

    That tolerance is the product. Mobile is not faster than residential and it is not cheaper. It is the pool that survives targets the others do not.

    Why it costs $3.99 a gigabyte

    Mobile costs more because the input costs more. Carrier bandwidth is metered by the carrier before anyone resells it, and the pool behind it is structurally smaller than a residential pool, because every exit is a paid subscription on a radio network rather than a line into a house. Those are supply facts, not positioning.

    The number that decides the purchase is not the rate. It is the rate divided by the share of requests that come back with the data you asked for. A blocked request still moves bytes: the connection, the TLS handshake, the headers and the challenge page are all billable traffic, and you get nothing for them. A gigabyte that fails is not a discount.

    So run it on your own numbers rather than ours. Take your current rate, divide by your measured success rate on the target that matters, and compare the two results.     Rotating, sticky, and one carrier at a time

    Port 823 carries HTTP and HTTPS, port 824 carries SOCKS5, and both are rotating endpoints where the gateway resolves the exit. Ports 10000 through 20000 are sticky: one carrier address held for a window you choose between 1 and 120 minutes, 30 minutes by default. The mechanics are in connecting to the gateway.

    Sticky matters more on mobile than anywhere else. A flow that signs in on one carrier address and completes on another has announced itself, and on the targets that pushed you to mobile in the first place, that is the announcement you were paying to avoid.

    Country selection and ASN exclusion are included at the base rate. State, city, ZIP and ASN selection are available as Target Filters at twice the rate — and ASN selection is how you reach one operator rather than whichever the gateway would have picked.
